a sweet friend of mine has been able to keep her head above water with all that's been going on in her life; dealing with insurance after her dad's accident, loosing friends, starting the spring semester, etc.
since i'm not a believer in giving or receiving cut flower, i decided in making her a quilt with flowers. giving her a "plant."
i went from a simple sketch with about five appliqued flowers to a garden with a blue bird flying overhead facing a sun.
in the center of the flowers, i made a pocket out of mesh for some sequence. haha, she's one of the card sending types that has confetti fly out when you open it. i figured the sequence was appropriate.
my first applique quilt and everything has been going right. i'm uber excited to finish the quilt and present it to my friend.
the quilting that's left is: the rest of the border, the blue bird, a pentagon in the middle of the flower, binding and a dedication on the back.
here's a sneak peek of what it looks like in my bag.

baby quilts
my ol man received a text a couple of weeks ago asking if i could donate a quilt for his cousin's kid's bingo. i couldn't decide on the yellows and greens i had, so i made two.
pink/purple and a blue/green.
a simple indidan design, machine quilted in the ditch.
very basic, done in about 24 hours. i probably could have made both quilts in one day from the moment i got up till i went to sleep, but alas, my hurricanes and ol man needed me.
not too shabby for a "day" quilt
